Being born in a place like Mount Isa, which is an remote mining town, in the far north west of Queensland. The chances of seeing any snow locally won't happen. Like going to a desert and expecting to see icebergs! Only in an ice age.
So the chance to hike a glacier for 8-10 hours was the best way to experience it all in one hit. I listen to a couple of irish lasses. Who told me to get in every first group to make sure I see everything. Well, what they fail to mention was the first group took the longest and hardest routes. It was for the hardcore glacier hiker.. That would have been fine if I'd not being wrecking my body on ten different adventure tours before, over the past couple weeks. But god dam it, I made it. We lost afew people down the crack of a large chasm, but I thought, hell they knew the risks when they choose to come on this hike.. To bloody cold to stop.. Like who's going to miss a few english backpackers in NZ? Theres thousands of them..
